How Does It Work?
At ResKey, we use the powerful, open-source wallet software Liana to create a customizable multisig vault that evolves over time—designed to protect your Bitcoin from loss, theft, or forced access.
This is not a fixed setup—it's a smart, flexible system that changes its spending rules automatically as time passes, based on your preferences. Here's how a typical setup might look:
🔒 Phase 1 — Maximum Security (2-of-2 Multisig)
At the start, your vault is locked with a 2-of-2 multisig setup where you control 1 key and ResKey controls the 2nd key. That means:

Both keys are required to move funds.

Even if someone breaks into your home, they can’t force you to move your Bitcoin.

You stay in full control, and ResKey can’t move funds without your active involvement.

We agree on a verbal sign or passphrase you give us when we call to confirm any transaction, adding a layer of human verification.
🧩 Phase 2 — Smart Recovery (Singlesig)
After a time delay you choose (e.g. 6 months), the wallet automatically shifts to a singlesig setup where only your key can move funds:

Now, you can move funds without ResKey, using your key only.

Optionally, this could be a 1-of-2 setup where you give a family member or another trusted person the second key.
🆘 Phase 3 — Emergency Access (1-of-2 Multisig)
In the final stage, the vault becomes 1-of-2:

Any one of the two original keys can move funds.

This acts as a last resort if you’ve lost your key—ResKey can now recover your Bitcoin.
🔂 To restart the Time delay, simply make a transaction.
